STEAM

Essex High School- Essex, Vermont

Friday, February 12, 2016

Students integrated science with art to create lanterns for the Stream of Lights Lanterns Parade. Both Tina Logan and myself helped the students construct their lanterns either individually, or in groups in their science classes. We also helped organize the event.

AMERICAN HERO NIGHT

History Intergrated with the Arts

Students integrated history with art to create an artwork that identifies with the quality traits that makes that particular hero, a hero.  The students put together an event to showcase their work to their parents and/ or guardians. This lesson was taught during their history block and was executed inside the art classroom for two weeks. I helped the students brainstorm, construct their projects, and organize/ curtate the event.

FACE JUGS/ MUGS

History Intergrated with the Arts

Tina Logan and I co-taught the 6th grade classes to make Face Mugs, inspired by Face Jugs made by African American Slaves in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia in the mid- 1800s. The students were taught the history of Face Jugs and made their own modern day Face Mug.
